From signing a paycheck as a small business owner to serving his community as an elected official, Larry Yarborough represents our communities with commonsense and fiscal responsibility.
With a background as an engineer, Larry is well-versed in problem solving and putting his skills to work for our people here in the community. He knows what it takes to create opportunity for our citizens, and is in a strong position to continue to build upon his time in the legislature in order to create even greater opportunities for our community to thrive.
Larry Yarborough's commonsense, opportunity-driven approach has brought a responsible, reasonable voice for the people of Person and Granville Counties, and he's ready to continue tackling our toughest, most important issues.
Since being elected to the North Carolina General Assembly I've made prioritizing education spending at the state level a significant part of my mission. Since being elected I've voted for teacher raises every year, including an average 10% raise for educators the last two years alone. In total we've increased the investment in education spending by $1 billion since 2016.
I'm proud to have supported legislation to keep our schools safe, including spending $35 million for school safety initiatives this school year alone. In addition to this a further $241 million dollars from the state's lottery fund are being used to build or upgrade school facilities, and to fund more mental health professionals and school resource officers at schools.
Protecting and growing our local economy is important to our community and I will continue to champion our communities' values and businesses in the North Carolina General Assembly. From protecting our farming communities to helping businesses and hardworking folks in our area to keep more of their own money in their pockets, I'll be your strong voice in Raleigh.
